What if it's Raining, Cold & Windy?
As we have high quality, all weather courts, we can train in light rain.
From 25+ years experience we try not to cancel sessions before time of the session, because we have done it so many times, for example we cancelled a 4:00pm session at 3:00, 3:30 or 3:45, and suddenly it stops & the sun comes out at 4:00pm (Unpredictability of the British weather!).
We check 3 forecasts and 2 live radars before we make any decision. Believe it or not, often forecasts conflict each other.
For example, during a rainy day, for 4pm squad training, we would usually ask everyone to come at 4pm, and wait in the clubhouse and if the weather does not improve we would cancel at 4:15pm. But after checking 5 forecasts, if we are sure that it may not stop raining, we will all let you know.
A lot of people think it's raining in Swanland at the same time when it's raining in Willerby, Kirkella, Ferriby, Hessle, Brough etc... but please do not assume that, because it usually is not the case.
And for any missed group session due to bad weather or your holidays or illness or other reasons, you can make it up by coming on a different day, any week. Please also see our Payment T&Cs.
We also train in cold weather, as we all know:
There is no bad weather there is just bad clothing! (of course there are exceptions for extreme conditions).
2 T shirts, a hoodie, light rain jacket, gloves and a woolly hat is more than enough to train in cold weather.
Wind.. Wind is part of tennis as it's an outdoor sport and you can actually use the wind to your advantage while you are playing tennis. Extreme windy conditions would be an exception.
In Swanland, it rains approximately 60 days of the year and these are usually short spells of rain lasting 5 to 25 minutes. Out of these 60 days, approximately 10 days are long spells of rain of 3 to 5 hrs. So, we do have plenty of dry days, and do not cancel many sessions. (FYI, It rains approximately 300 days on the West Coast)
We will always keep informed with text messages.
